Satchel's Pizza

Last week, my boyfriend and I went to Gainesville to visit my sister and to attend the Asian American Student Union Assembly. For lunch, we decided to try Satchel's Pizza based off of a couple of our friend's recommendations. My first impression while walking towards the restaurant was pure excitement. I was told that it was a cool experience and I was not let down. Looking at the restaurant itself was like looking at art. We decided to sit outside and the only downside to that was having to deal with the ants. But that wasn't THAT big of a deal since they were mostly black ants and all you had to do was fling them off the table. The menu is pretty basic, they have calzones, salads, pizzas, and dessert. From 11 AM - 4 PM everyday they have a lunch special that comes with a salad and a one topping slice. However, we decided to go for a large 'The Mama' which is a pizza that comes with 4 toppings. We chose pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, and green peppers. To our surprise, the pizza was HUGE. We weren't able to finish it but it was pretty delicious. I'm pretty picky when it comes to pizza, I don't really like too much sauce so that was the only negative but that's just my own personal preference. The server gave us the dessert menu, which ended up being inside a viewmaster. Unfortunately, we were way too stuffed so we asked for the check. One thing to note is that this restaurant is a cash only restaurant, but they do have an ATM and the $1.50 fee from the ATM goes to charity. I would rate this restaurant a 3.5/5 just because I don't feel like the pizza matched my preferences. But I definitely recommend it if you are looking to try something new and relax in a cool environment.

Love,
