Satchel's Pizza

Last week, my boyfriend and I went to Gainesville to visit my sister and to attend the Asian American Student Union Assembly. For lunch, we decided to try Satchel's Pizza based off of a couple of our friend's recommendations. My first impression while walking towards the restaurant was pure excitement. I was told that it was a cool experience and I was not let down. Looking at the restaurant itself was like looking at art. We decided to sit outside and the only downside to that was having to deal with the ants. But that wasn't THAT big of a deal since they were mostly black ants and all you had to do was fling them off the table. The menu is pretty basic, they have calzones, salads, pizzas, and dessert. From 11 AM - 4 PM everyday they have a lunch special that comes with a salad and a one topping slice. However, we decided to go for a large 'The Mama' which is a pizza that comes with 4 toppings. We chose pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, and green peppers. To our surprise, the pizza was HUGE. We weren't able to finish it but it was pretty delicious. I'm pretty picky when it comes to pizza, I don't really like too much sauce so that was the only negative but that's just my own personal preference. The server gave us the dessert menu, which ended up being inside a viewmaster. Unfortunately, we were way too stuffed so we asked for the check. One thing to note is that this restaurant is a cash only restaurant, but they do have an ATM and the $1.50 fee from the ATM goes to charity. I would rate this restaurant a 3.5/5 just because I don't feel like the pizza matched my preferences. But I definitely recommend it if you are looking to try something new and relax in a cool environment.

Rifle Paper Co.

As many of you know, I am addicted to all things stationary. So you can only imagine my excitement when I learned about Rifle Paper Co. Rifle Paper Co. is a stationary store based in Winter Park, Florida and was founded by a husband and wife team in 2009. Their Winter Park location is where they do things like shipping and product photos, but you can find their products online at riflepaperco.com or in stores like Anthropologie. They sell a multitude of stationary items from calendars to notebooks. But they also sell wallpaper, phone cases, and even some bags and apparel. All their items are great quality and you will not disappointed if you purchase anything from their store. Their prices are pretty reasonable for their products, but if you find that it is a little pricier they do have side-walk sales a couple months in the year. I believe their last side-walk sale was in July and their next one will be in November. When I went, I ended up buying a sticker book and a notepad and I cannot wait for the next time I can go and buy more things. If you are interested in stationary, I definitely recommend you check out Rifle Paper Co., I promise you will not be disappointed.

Poetry Slam

When my sister invited me to accompany her to a poetry slam, I wasn't really sure what to expect. I've never been to a poetry slam and never really thought much about poetry. But, I figured I had nothing better to do so why not, right? When we first arrived to the location, Anonymous Guitars in Sunrise, I still wasn't sure if I was going to like the evening. It was hot, kinda sketchy, and the chips I got out of the vending machine were expired. Fast forward 30 minutes, and wow. I was blown away by the talent and experiences that these young adults have been through.

There were about ten or more different poets that performed that night, and every single performance was phenomenal. It was eye-opening to listen to these performances and learn about some of the experiences the performers went through. Growing up, I was pretty sheltered and never really knew anyone who has lost a loved one, knew someone who was incarcerated, or even had friends that talked about divorce. But in this one night, I heard the emotions that surround such events.

The best part about these performances was the lesson that each piece provided. Although many were inspired by negative events, the poets reminded the crowd to take each situation, learn from it, and better yourself. It was inspiring to witness the passion of such young individuals and watching them grow with their art.

Studio L2E

As you all know, I am addicted to all things planner related. I never seem to have enough washi tape, stickers, scrapbooking paper, etc. Well... let's add another addiction to that list. STAMPS! After watching a bunch of youtube videos on these stamps, I decided I needed them in my life. I figured that stamps are re-usable and will save me money in the long run... Right? Okay lets just be real, I just thought they were cute and needed them in my life. But anyways, my Studio L2E stamps came into the mail and after using them for the past two weeks I highly recommend them.

Studio L2E is a small stamp company based out of Oregon and their stamps are high quality photopolymer stamps. In order to use these stamps, you need an acrylic block which allows you to see exactly where you are placing your stamp. After using the stamp, I use a baby wipe to clean off any left over ink and just put it back in it's place. Over-time the stamp may lose it's ability to stick to the block and all you have to do is wash the stamp with mild soap and water and let it air-dry.

The stamps I purchased are the 'Plan It', 'Iconic', 'Iconic Activities', and 'Today's Weather.' The 'Plan It' stamps comes with a bunch of different stamps for only $15 and is perfect to use in your planner. It has all your basic stamps that you will need. My favorite stamps to use from this set is the 'To do' and 'Hydrate' stamps. Honestly, this stamp set alone is enough if you are just starting, but of course I wanted more. Both the 'Iconic' and 'Iconic Activities' were $8 each and come with icons that fit almost everything in your life. Lastly, I like to track my weather on the top of my planner so I purchased the 'Today's Weather' stamp set for only $3.00.

Before I show you guys the photos, I do want to mention the type of ink you want to use for these stamps. The best ink would be chalk ink, mostly because it does not seep through the other side. The brand that is sold on the Studio L2E site is the Versamagic Chalk Ink. I personally use ColorBox Pigment ink and haven't had any problems. One thing to note is that no matter what ink you decide to use, they will stain your stamps. The ColorBox ink stained my stamps after just one use. But the way I see it, the more stained my stamps are the more love they get. Anyways, I think this is enough text hope you enjoy the photos of the stamps and the way I use them.

THERAPY IN COLOR

One of my favorite things to do when I am having a bad/stressful day is to sit down and color in my Posh Coloring Book. It is a good way to take your attention off from anything that is bothering you and putting it into the page that you're working on. There are so many different Adult coloring books that you can purchase, like Color Me Calm or The Enchanted Forest. I purchased mine from Barnes and Noble, but you can find these coloring books at craft stores like Michaels and even at some Targets. If you find yourself feeling anxious or need a way to calm yourself down, I definitely recommend trying out color therapy. Anyways, enjoy the photos of some of my finished pages and I hope they inspire you.

Monterey Bay

Ever since I can remember, my family has always visited California whenever we had some vacation time. But although I consider Los Angeles to be a second home, I feel like I barely know California. So I was extremely excited this summer when we decided to take a road trip to the beautiful Monterey, California.

After picking up my younger sister from the University of California Davis, we drove about two hours to the adorable beach house we rented in Monterey. The beach house itself was quaint, comfortable, and part of the cutest little town. If you ever visit Monterey, I definitely recommend renting a beach house versus staying in a hotel. Not only is it cheaper, but it is walking distance from the beach and from dozens of delicious restaurants.

There are two things that I highly recommend when visiting Monterey: The Monterey Bay Aquarium and the 17-mile drive. The aquarium was one of the biggest aquariums I have ever been to and it was filled with amazing animals from otters to jellyfish, and even penguins! My favorite part in the aquarium is being able to walk onto the outside observatory deck and using binoculars to see the wildlife of Monterey Bay. I was able to spot two elephant seals, one lounging on a rock and the other swimming across the ocean. We went through the 17 mile drive on our way back to Southern California. The drive consisted of a variety of different sites with great views like the Lone Cypress and the Ghost Tree. The most memorable part of the drive back to SoCal was Seal Point. At Seal Point the shoreline was covered with juvenile and female elephant seals that came onto the shore to molt.

Overall, my trip to Monterey was a relaxing trip full of beautiful sites. If you have a big appreciation towards beaches and sea-life you need to plan out a trip to Monterey. I cannot wait to go back there!

Planner Spread: July 6-12

The Happy Planner

Hey everyone and welcome to my first planner spread post! So lately I've been OBSESSED with all things planner related. From watching "Plan With Me" videos to scrolling through different planner Instagram photos. Name it, I probably do it.

So to satisfy my need to plan, I went out to purchase 'The Happy Planner' from Me and My Big Ideas. This planner was about $24.99 and resembles the layout of the ever-so-popular Erin Condren planners but for a fraction of the price. You can find this planner at all Hobby Lobbys and some Michaels stores. Trust me, it's worth it. For this week's spread, I used washi tape from Hobby Lobby, stickers from MAMBI, and sticky notes from both Heidi Swapp and Daiso.

I'm excited to purchase more planner supplies (especially washi tape and stickers!) and see where this new hobby takes me. Hope you enjoy this spread!
